Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How Coaching Works

A quick look at what to expect from our sessions and the rhythm of working together.

What happens in a typical coaching session?

Each session is a focused working conversation where we look at your actual numbers, clarify decisions, and agree on concrete next steps. We’ll review what’s changed since the last session, dig into one or two key topics (like cash flow, savings, or investing), and leave you with a short list of actions and tools to use before we meet again.

How do we meet—online, in person, or both?

Most clients meet with me virtually via video, which lets us share screens and work directly from your accounts, spreadsheets, or reports wherever you are. If you’re local (Greater Atlanta region) and prefer in‑person sessions, we can accommodate that as well.

What do you expect me to do between sessions?

Between sessions, your role is to complete a small set of agreed‑upon actions—things like updating a simple tracker, moving money to savings, or making a specific decision. I keep the workload realistic so you build momentum without feeling overwhelmed, and we use the next session to review what worked, what didn’t, and adjust your plan.

Coaching vs. Financial Planning

Not sure whether you need a coach, a planner, or both? Here's how the two roles fit together.

What's the difference between a financial coach and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP)?

A financial coach helps you build the habits, clarity, and systems to manage money well day to day—budgeting, debt payoff, savings, and the mindset shifts that make those changes stick. A CFP is a licensed professional who holds a fiduciary duty to you and is trained to give specific investment, tax, and estate advice.

If we were talking about your physical wellness, it would be like the difference between a personal trainer and a physician. A trainer builds the habits, discipline, and foundational strength that make you ready for more advanced intervention — and can spot when something needs a doctor's attention. So you can think of me as a personal trainer for your finances!

Can you give me investment advice or manage my accounts?

No. I'm not licensed as a financial advisor or fiduciary, so I don't recommend specific investments, manage your accounts, or make trades on your behalf. I provide education on different types of investments and generally how they work to your benefit. Most importantly I help you understand your options, get organized, and build the confidence to make informed decisions.

Is Coaching Right for You?

Coaching is built for real life, not perfect starting points — here's why that matters

What if my financial situation feels messy or unusual—will coaching still help?

Yes. Coaching is built for real‑world situations: mixed accounts, past decisions, debt, irregular income, or complex family dynamics. We start from where you are today, clarify what “better” looks like for you, and then build practical steps that respect your reality instead of expecting a perfect starting point.

What if I need to reschedule or something comes up?

Life happens, and we build some flexibility into the process. I ask for reasonable notice when you need to reschedule, and we’ll review the specific policy for changes and cancellations when you start so expectations are clear on both sides.

Programs & Pricing

What each program includes, how to choose between them, and what it costs.

How do I choose between the 3‑month and 6‑month personal finance coaching programs?

The 3‑month program is ideal if you want a focused, introductory reset—getting organized, stabilizing cash flow, and starting a savings habit without committing to a longer engagement yet. The 6‑month program is better if you’re ready to build a complete personal finance system, work through debt, savings, wealth-building and major decisions, and want more time for behavior change and deeper implementation.

Who is the Level‑Up coaching program for?

Level‑Up is designed for people who have completed the 6‑month program and now want to shift their focus from “getting organized” to “deliberately building wealth.” We’ll work on automated saving, index‑fund investing, asset allocation, and ongoing system upgrades as your income, savings, and investments grow.

How is pricing structured for the coaching programs?

Each program has a clear, all‑in price that covers your sessions, between‑session support, and the tools we use together. Depending on the program, you may have the option to pay in full or per session. I’ll outline those choices during our initial call so there are no surprises. We will both sign off on a Coaching Services Agreement that includes all of the costs, terms and coaching scope.

Workshops

A one-time alternative to ongoing coaching — here's how it works and what we cover.

How is the private workshop different from ongoing coaching?

The private workshop is a one‑time live, interactive event for small or large groups. Usually 1-2 hours, it is designed to tackle a specific personal finance topic or set of questions or issues in a single sitting. Coaching, by contrast, is a series of one-on-one (or couples) structured conversations focused on building systems and habits over time with accountability and iteration.

What kinds of topics can are cover in a workshop?

Workshops are customized, but common themes include cash‑flow basics, automated budgeting/spending, tackling debt, savings and investing practices, or improving money communication in a relationship or household. We’ll align the agenda to the group's priorities in advance so the session feels focused and all will leave with clear next steps.
